Baymele
Doors 7:30pm, Show 8pm $20 adv / $25 dos Baymele ("little tree" in Yiddish) is a klezmer band rooted in the Bay Area, featuring Matthew Stein on fiddle, Dmitri Gaskin on accordion, and Misha Khalikulov on cello. Baymele's debut album Sapling celebrates the idea of new growth from old roots. A celebration of diasporic Jewish folk music, the album also features Baymele’s deep study of Polish folk music and their attempts to blend the two styles. Drawing from rich historical sources — including the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine and Oskar Kolberg's collections in Poland — Sapling reimagines beautiful melodies that have traveled centuries and continents, often leading to more questions than answers. While many of these sources are light on biographical detail, they offer a glimpse into what life was like for the people who played and heard this music.

The NY Chaabi Orchestra: LOVE melts ICE
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm On this waxing moon night of Ramadan and Adar, May the grieving winter melt into a spring of forgiveness and generosity, May growth and good fortune water our community. When the view clears up and the howling winds find peace, The moon on the surface and its reflection in the sky are but One. This event is a tribute to Amazigh heritage, a celebration of memory, resilience, and ancestral wisdom. It honors my beloved parents, the two siblings I lost, and all ancestors. Ad yifsus fell-asen wakal / May the land be light on them. We begin by reframing Africa beyond colonial borders, defining Indigenousness, sharing an Amazigh Ourstory, and situating the lands now known as Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt. Through a poetic, multilingual repertoire of popular ( chaabi ) songs of love, heartbreak, hope, exile and longing, we retrace my parents’ journey and revive the voices of this heroic generation who broke the shackles of colonization, displacement, segregation, forced conscription, sexual enslavement, “scientific” experiments and nuclear testing, unyielding to torture, internment camps, massacres and mass incarceration, and rising above racism, worker exploitation, denial and marginalization in the homeland and in exile. Their legacy leaves humanity with the presence of beauty, pride, hope, resilience and joie-de-vivre, a guiding path for all those in pursuit of dignity and human rights. To harmonize our collective movement, we will also learn simple clapping patterns and dance steps together. Our journey culminates on the dance floor with DJ RAÏVING spinning rare and traditional music styles from the Homeland. We celebrate and preserve the music, dance, and cultural heritage of North and West Africa (Tamazgha), while uplifting women, immigrant musicians, and local composers. NYCO creates spaces where traditions can be learned, shared, evolved, and joyfully experienced by people of all backgrounds. Through performance, education, and community engagement, we build bridges across cultures, expand representation, and stand proudly against sexism, ableism, Islamophobia, Judeophobia, cultural erasure, and cultural appropriation. Jihene, an Amazigh chaabi musician, dancer, and cultural activist from Algeria and Tunisia, has been studying, teaching, and performing MENA music since 2008. Currently mentored by Paris-based percussionist Amar Chaoui (Tinariwen, Gnawa Diffusion), Jihene teaches darbuka, singing, and dance in English, French, Spanish, and Derja privately and through her community program, Dar Brooklyn , which is open to women, children, and trans people. She has performed at events such as Le Festival au Desert in Mali with Khaira Arby (RIP) and Atri n'Assouf, and opened for The Rolling Stones’ 50th Anniversary Tour in NYC with BatalaNYC. Alkemie presents: What's Your Sign?
Doors 7pm, Show 7:30pm $25 adv / $30 dos It’s a tale as old as time - 2 lovers meet in secret in the dark of night, bathed in starlight….only to be interrupted by an astrologer who insists that they must consult with the stars before embarking upon their tryst. Is the moon in the sign of the Bull? In that case - a path to marriage may be advised! But if the moon is in Cancer, beware…it is a time for fighting and arguing! Alkemie returns to Jalopy Theatre to share medieval music that reflects the Zodiac and the ways it mapped onto daily life – including agriculture, recreation, magic, medicine, and personal divination. Do you know when to avoid tree-climbing and bloodletting, but to reunite quarreling friends? Join Alkemie to find out what activities might be safe for you to engage in on March 6 (when the moon will be in Libra). About the Band As travelers to the intersections of the medieval court, cloister, and folk world, ALKEMIE is unabashed about dismantling the barriers that have traditionally separated these domains and our present experience. Comprised of singer-performers playing two dozen instruments–including vielles (early fiddles), harps, psaltery, scheitholt (early zither), recorders, douçaines & dulcians (early double reeds), bagpipes, and percussion—they are known for their “characterful playing” (The New Yorker) and “fresh arrangements that incorporate touches of bluegrass and Celtic music” (The Whole Note). Alkemie recently created the soundtrack to the Peabody and BAFTA award-winning video game Pentiment, which Gamereactor said “truly elevated the experience to a height normally reserved for angels and aircrafts.”

Cole Quest and The City Pickers: Songs in the Spirit of Woody Guthrie
This event will be preceded by the talk 'WOODY AT HOME: Woody Guthrie's Brooklyn Home Recordings, 1951-1952,' led by Anna Canoni, Woody Guthrie's granddaughter. LEARN MORE HERE! 7pm doors, 7:30pm show $20 adv / $25 dos Get a $5 discount to attend both the presentation and the concert! This special evening draws influence from Woody Guthrie’s plain-spoken poetry, his compassion for humanity, and his belief that songs can be tools for solidarity. Cole Quest and The City Pickers will present original songs alongside selections from Woody’s catalog, as well as songs of protest and community from artists in his circle, including Pete Seeger, tracing the musical conversations that shaped American folk music and continue to resonate today. Come join us in song and sing out together in the spirit of Woody Guthrie. Rooted in tradition yet driven by a restless New York energy, Cole Quest and The City Pickers are carrying bluegrass forward with wit, warmth, and originality. Led by dobro player, songwriter, and vocalist Cole Quest — grandson of folk icon Woody Guthrie — the band has carved out a singular place in today’s roots music landscape. Their latest album, Homegrown (Jalopy Records, 2025), produced by Grammy Award–winning engineer Steve Rosenthal, brings the band’s journey into full focus. The record weaves four new originals with reimagined takes on songs by John Hartford, Peter Rowan, and Woody Guthrie himself, linking Cole’s own creative voice with his grandfather’s enduring legacy. No Depression hailed it as “an album that deftly moves the legacy of Woody Guthrie along in all the right ways.” Critics like Songlines (UK), Glide Magazine, and the Berkshire Eagle have noted how the band honors its lineage while commanding its own path. Their broad recognition includes a Bluegrass Standard cover (August 2025) and a feature in Bluegrass Unlimited. Formed by friends with a shared love of bluegrass, Quest first pulled the Pickers together in 2017 to record their debut self-titled project at the legendary Magic Shop studio. They went on to release their acclaimed EP Self [En]Titled on Omnivore Records in 2021. Over the years, they’ve won the Podunk Bluegrass Festival band competition, toured Germany multiple times, and shared stages with artists like Billy Strings, Sierra Hull, and Tony Trischka. But beyond accolades, what defines Cole Quest and The City Pickers is community. Their music bridges the solidarity of a Guthrie family sing-along with the high-lonesome sound of bluegrass made for a new century. Whether on record or on stage, they deliver an energizing, joyful performance that creates spaces where tradition meets innovation, laughter meets resilience, and every listener feels at home. This program is made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, The Howard Gilman Foundation, The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and the New York State Council on the Arts.

Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light
8pm doors, 8:30pm show $20 adv / $25 dos Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light are a Boston-based string band making music that blends folk tradition with feminist storytelling, poetic detail, and just enough grit. At the center is Sumner’s songwriting—rooted in history, myth, and personal reckoning—carried by close harmonies, upright bass, acoustic guitar, and fiddle. The trio features Kat Wallace on fiddle and vocals and Mike Siegel on upright bass and vocals, whose playing brings both tension and tenderness to the sound. Their sound is spare and intimate, sometimes eerie, sometimes sweet, always intentional. They call it Femericana —sharp-edged Americana with a splash of feminine rage. Sumner has performed at the Library of Congress, where five of her original songs are now archived, and was a 2024 winner of the Kerrville New Folk competition. Her song “Radium Girls (Curie Eleison)” struck a nerve—streamed over 300,000 times and picked up by dancers, theater directors, and deep listeners who saw themselves in its story. It’s been tattooed on arms, sung in audition rooms, and carried into classrooms and protests. The kind of song people hold onto. Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light has toured coast to coast, bringing their spellbinding live show to listening rooms, libraries, farms, and festivals across the country. They've appeared at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Earl Scruggs Festival, IBMA, and legendary folk listening rooms like Caffé Lena and Club Passim, where their shows have become a staple of the Boston folk scene. Their latest release, The Traveling Light Sessions , reimagines Sumner’s studio album Heartless Things —recorded live around one microphone with no overdubs. Just the way they play it.

Alash Ensemble
Doors: 8:00pm Music: 8:30pm Alash are masters of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei), a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this gifted trio from earlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into their traditional music. One can find complex harmonies, Western instruments and contemporary song forms in Alash’s music, but its overall sound and spirit remain decidedly Tuvan. Trained in traditional Tuvan music since childhood, the Alash musicians studied at Kyzyl Arts College just as Tuva was beginning to open up to the West. They formed a traditional ensemble and won multiple awards for traditional throat singing in international xöömei competitions, both as an ensemble and as individuals. At the same time, they paid close attention to new trends coming out of the West. They have borrowed new ideas that mesh well with the sound and feel of traditional Tuvan music, but they have never sacrificed the integrity of their own heritage in an effort to make their music more hip. Alash first toured the United States under the sponsorship of the Open World Leadership program of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Arts. Since then, they have returned many times to the delight of American audiences. The Washington Post described their music as “utterly stunning,” quipping that after the performance “audience members picked their jaws up off the floor.”

Minnie Jordan Quartet / Lily Talmers
8pm doors, 8:30pm show $20 adv / $25 dos Up-and-coming jazz violinist and composer Minnie Jordan has been a fixture in the New York jazz, bluegrass, and Americana scenes since 2021. Her quartet brings a storyteller’s aesthetic to the contemporary jazz idiom, weaving memorable melodies through dynamic improvisation and compositional arcs. She has performed at festivals including the Dominican Republic Jazz Fest, Freshgrass, and Thomas Point, as well as Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center. Minnie will be joined by Evan Main on piano, Aidan Cafferty on bass, and Eliza Salem on drums. Lily Talmers writes of the innate divinity in humanity from a palpably Midwestern vantage. Her lyrics are spiritual and strange—vivid images that range from sludge-covered and dismal to childlike and wondrous. Every song on It Is Cyclical, Missing You was recorded live, each song in one continuous take, often with a full band in tow, produced by Talmers herself. Lily Talmers has seen praise from NPR, No Depression, Under The Radar, and The Bluegrass Situation among others. She won the Kerrville Folk Festival's 2024 New Folk Competition and has opened for the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, The Brother Brothers, and Anna Tivel.

The Wilsons Springs Hotel / Nathan Xander
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm $20 adv / $25 dos Homegrown in the rich music scene of Virginia, The Wilson Springs Hotel is a 5-star quintet brought together within a union of genres - a high-energy folk act committed to rock & roll, bluegrass and classic country. Forming in 2021, the band released two albums in quick succession, while growing a steadfast audience from their fiery and memorable performances out on the road. The group is named after a historic hotel in Lexington, Virginia, home of lead vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Jacob Ritter. 2024 found the band releasing a handful of singles that showcase an even more thoughtful and driving sound. Ritter's lyrics cover a plethora of subjects, from love and loss, and one’s internal growth as a result, to the relatable woes of the modern working man. Songs such as “Pulling Weeds” (featuring sweeping melodies from fiddle player Brendan Boylan and guitarist Victor McManus), explore the struggle with repetitive mental loops, much like attempting to get nutrients out of the same-old spent garden. The bouncy, danceable, and crowd-pleasing sound of “Two Step Man” takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to noting the finer aspects of a new relationship, while being driven by a toe-tapping country shuffle courtesy of drummer Stephan LaRue and bassist/backing vocalist Andrew Carper. Through its constant growth, the band remains unwilling to conform to a single genre, as is evident in the way that this newer material celebrates the many influences instilled by the variety of sonic backgrounds each band member brings with them. Having had multiple appearances at wonderful regional festivals such as DelFest, FloydFest and Rooster Walk, it’s no secret that The Wilson Springs Hotel is best experienced in a live setting. They expertly package dynamic performances full of raw emotion, humor and storytelling, with song-by-song showcases of each player’s talents. You will undoubtedly enjoy the many lovely amenities offered to you during your stay with The Wilson Springs Hotel. Nathan Xander writes songs that are steeped in the quiet, restrained tension of what Greil Marcus called the ‘Old, Weird America’. The New York based songwriter has spent the last decade refining his craft across stages of all sizes, from dive bars to folk festivals; having shared bills with Justin Townes Earle, Tyler Childers, Lydia Loveless, Tommy Stinson, Robbie Fulks, and Howe Gelb of Giant Sand. Xander sorts through love, loss, and evolving identity as he stands on the threshold of a new era in his own career.

Rebecca Porter & the Rhinestone Roses with Special Guests Roberta Faceplant
Doors 7:30pm, Dance Lesson 8pm, Show 8:30pm $20 adv / $25 dos Born in Guam and raised in the Shenandoah Valley, Rebecca Porter blends soulful melodies and fearless lyrics with her honey-smooth voice to create her own brand of Appalachian honky tonk. Her 2023 EP, Queen of the Local, earned national acclaim and led to recognition in Rissi Palmer's Color Me Country Class of 2024, features on Ed Helms' Good Country, and a debut on NPR's Mountain Stage. Known for electrifying live performances, Porter captivates audiences with her emotional intensity and grit. Porter's personal and raw storytelling continues to push boundaries, projecting a cinematic soundscape that balances traditional country’s rugged spirit with an unapologetic journey of perseverance. Roberta Faceplant is a honky tonk hurricane from Philadelphia. Safely in the middle of a Venn diagram where kitsch meets bitch, the five-piece Outlaw Americana band has been called “a cowpunk miracle” and been compared to “Southern Culture on the Skids fronted by Laura Bell Bundy.” It’s Country, but you can hear the city. Raucous guitars, a driving rhythm section, and the raw, powerful, and soulful vocals of frontwoman Katie Feeney make Roberta Faceplant a five-fingered fist of Country grit. Lyrically, Feeney and the band pull no punches, tackling current events with tongue in cheek humor and rage. Peppered with Bob Seger-style working-man themes and a dose of Southern Rock, the band still holds tight to the true spirit of country music - three chords and the truth.

Mark Erelli
$20 ADV / $25 DOS 8:00PM DOORS 8:30PM SHOW Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Mark Erelli is a Boston-based veteran of the folk and roots music scene, renowned for his emotional honesty, craftsmanship, and warmth. Erelli exploded out of the gate in 1999 when he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award in the wake of his “auspicious debut” ( Billboard ), joining the ranks of previous honorees like Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. More recently, Erelli penned the anti-gun violence song “By Degrees,” recorded in collaboration with Rosanne Cash, Sheryl Crow, and others, which garnered a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2019 Americana Honors and Awards. He followed this honor with a pair of records that drew comparisons to both Tom Petty and John Prine, as well as praise for their energy, grace, and resilience. Now, on his fourteenth solo album Spring Green , Erelli delivers his most cohesive and emotionally resonant work to date—a meditation on vulnerability, endurance, and renewal. Following 2023’s Lay Your Darkness Down , which chronicled his response to vision loss from retinitis pigmentosa, Spring Green finds Erelli in a place of hard-won peace. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Zachariah Hickman and tracked largely live over three days, the album feels fluid and organic—more watercolor painting than photographic snapshot. Its intimate sound recalls classic singer-songwriters like Jackson Browne and James Taylor, prioritizing storytelling and emotional clarity over stylistic showmanship. By choosing to release Spring Green independently through Bandcamp and personally fulfilling each order, Erelli reaffirms his commitment to authentic connection over industry convention. The album stands as both an artistic statement and a survival guide—proof that true strength lies in softness, and that being wholly oneself is more than enough.

Cristina Vane
Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm $20 adv / $25 dos More than a mere practitioner of her craft, Cristina Vane has a breadth and depth of serious musical skill compiled from countless miles across all kinds of geography. On her third studio album ‘Hear My Call,’ the pairing of a lifetime pursuit and growing treasure trove of songs makes for a record that demands to be heard. Her sound reflects and amalgam of experiences; born at the foothills of the alps in Italy and raised between Italy, England and France, Cristina’s half American – half Guatemalan heritage is as unique as her sound. She is a product of a merging of numerous worlds- her classic rock, 90s indie, and heavier roots with her passion for prewar blues, old time fiddle banjo music, country and bluegrass. Rolling Stone described her early single Badlands as “evocative of a young Bonnie Raitt and early PJ Harvey […] entrancing stuff”. A deft multi-instrumentalist and captivating vocalist, she began writing songs and playing guitar in her teens, before the power of slide guitar captured her attention one summer in London and changed the course of her sound. After graduating from Princeton University, Vane moved to Los Angeles with a dream to pursue her constant passion, music. There, inspired by Rory Block, Skip James, and Blind Willie Johnson, she began teaching herself slide in open tunings and found herself working at folk staple McCabe’s guitar shop where the universe conspired in her favor by putting under the tutelage of her fingerstyle guitar mentor, Pete Steinberg. It was also at McCabe’s that Vane began her journey on the clawhammer banjo, and continued to busk on the Venice Boardwalk, putting in countless hours of practice to become closer to the powerhouse performer she is today. After four years in Los Angeles, Vane felt the itch to move. True to her industrious and fearless nature, she used her small social media following at the time to crowd sourced her first tour, which she called “Show Me Your Hometown Tour” and describes as one of the most transformative experiences of her life. Six months of living out of her tent, car, and strangers couches, she dove into life on the road with a gusto that culminated in her moving to Nashville and recording her first studio album- “Nowhere Sounds Lovely”, recorded by Grammy award winning producer and drummer Cactus Moser (Wynonna Judd, Noelline Hoffman). Her second full length album came a year later, recorded at The Studio by Brook Sutton and coproduced with Jano Rix (Wood Brothers). This third album is different, though. In some ways, it retains the musical diversity of the first two- Vane refuses to bend herself into a box, writing excellent bluegrass songs that exist cohesively alongside her blues, rock, and hill country blues inspired tunes. But she feels differently now- a decade of finding herself has brought her full circle; in her words, “ “When it came to the album, I wanted it to be a reflection of who I am, not just of the old music that I’ve come to love”, she explains, “and I’m essentially a rock kid who is obsessed with old music. After being exposed to all of this music that was foreign to me, I am slowly figuring out how to find my own voice within it. It is the sound of growing up.” Recorded with Brook Sutton at The Studio, she had her touring band come in to reflect the reality of what she spends her year doing as a nationally touring artist, and features exciting co-writes with Mike Harris (Old Crow Medicine Show) and Silas Lowe, as well as guest features from Molly Tuttle, JD Simo, Kenny Vaughan, Bronwyn Keith Hines and Brenna MacMillan. Cristina has an extensive touring history and has provided direct support for: Molly Tuttle, Bob Weir, Jerry Douglas, Wynonna Judd, Sam Bush, Nikki Lane, Town Mountain, Duane Betts Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Arlo McKinley, and Willi Carlisle. She has been mentioned in Rolling Stone Country and NPR, and was featured in the Bank of America ad for Ken Burns’ “Country Music” documentary. She was an invited guest for Billy Strings’ String the Halls 3, has appeared on Travis Book’s (Infamous Stringdusters) Happy Hour and at Portland Blues Festival, Under the Big Sky Four Corners Folk Festival, and Roosterwalk.
